THE BLUE GIRL

inside the whale

is a waterwheel

about which

all of those scientists

are entirely wrong

the whale is not

powered by the

turning of water

but by the eating

of sea spirits

the wheel does not

power the whale

but the ocean itself

which slides by

on invisible twine

this is how

we have ideas

this is how

we imagine

the imaginary world

to be

this is how

the blue girl

touches a fingertip

to the cold parts

of the universe
