H_NGM_N stalwart Joey Slaughter, the featured artist for H_NGM_N #6, has some amazing new work in the new issue of New American Paintings. Congrats, man! I told him what I think & what I think is that this stuff seems richer, darker, more complex, but still so full of energy. Here’s some of his statement from #6:


I am interested in information and how it progresses and transforms. Logic and basic formulations are inherent within my work. My art deals with a variety of semi abstract forms that link to form a language. To achieve this I use the computer as a tool for manipulating my visual information. Working digitally has the advantage of generating many different possibilities in my visual vocabulary. The two-dimensional images generated act as a reference for the three-dimensional. Using drawing, painting, sculpture and vinyl, I transfer this virtual state to a more tangible one, albeit one of flux.
